I’ve read a lot of horror stories where Amazon has randomly closed people’s accounts for different reasons. Fair enough – many of these are due to breaches of their terms and conditions (e.g. failing to properly disclose links, not using the appropriate images and links provided in the affiliate dashboard, buying from one’s own affiliate links, etc.) but yes, if you fail to comply by their rules, you’re at risk of being shut down (and losing all the commission you’ve racked up). SO, don’t be a dummy, read the terms and conditions thoroughly and make sure you’re not breaching them.
Hi Jim, thanks for your comment. I did actually review Commission Hero, if you pop it in the search bar on my site you’ll find it. You mentioned you are interested in a certain subject but it lacks affiliate programs. This is one reality that you have to accept if that is the case. I don’t know the niche so can’t analyze it myself but sometimes you just need to move on to something else. You’ll be wasting your time (and money) if you don’t do your research properly. Research is just so crucial. You also mentioned creating your own guide. Please don’t do this without proper research! Chances are if it’s not created already, it’s not something people want. In regards to blogging, Savage Affiliates doesn’t just teach that. Franklin goes over different ways to make money and includes free, organic and paid traffic training. Keep in mind you need to work at affiliate marketing and if writing is something that you don’t like, you should either outsource it or at least try writing a little each day. This business is not for those that want an easy way out or expect instant results. It takes time but when things kick in, it really starts rolling. I hope that helps!
Hi Christina. I have been looking for answers about how to start affiliate through a travel blogging for more than 3 weeks and this post shined a light for me. Thank you! I still have a question about how and when to start applying to affiliate programs. I just opened my travel blog last week and had only 2 posts. Off course I have no established traffic and posts yet. I want to use affiliate links to start writing about reviews of hotels and places where I have visited, but I know my blog won’t be accepted by advertisers because I don’t have enough contents. I also took Michelle’s course and one of the chapters said to start affiliate marketing as soon as possible, but I don’t know how would you be accepted by advertisers at very very beginning?? Should I forcus on writing more posts first? And how many would be adequate to start applying to programs? Thank you for reading. Your blog is very helpful!!
Steady, Trackable Growth. ReferralCandy takes notes of referral engagement metrics, which entrepreneurs can use to learn more about customer behavior when sharing their brand. This way, you can efficiently track the progress of your referral system, find out how much sales it yields, as well as help you figure out how to further improve the referral scheme you are using.
If instant gratification is your thing, affiliate marketing will make you want to run into a wall. Even after you surpass the threshold needed to “cash out”, there’s usually a waiting period before your commission is confirmed/approved, simply because they allow time for people to return goods if needed. So yes, affiliate marketing is by no means a fast track to cash.

While I was doing WordPress speed optimization I noticed lots of people needed it, but very few people supplied it (there were a lack of services and tutorials when I researched Google). I also knew hosting was the #1 factor of website speed and hosting companies paid up to $200/sale. Hosting is a competitive space but the commissions and lack of supply enticed me.
Hey Karen, thanks for reaching out! You’d first have to get the small businesses to join a network like CJ, Shareasale, or Impact Radius. Once they are considered an affiliate merchant, you can find them in the platform and join their affiliate program. I don’t typically recommend affiliate for small businesses or artists, as you need a good amount of traffic to make any money. To make money quickly, I’d start by developing a website based on your expertise and personal brand, and selling a high-end consulting service to B2B clients. Feel free to check out my start here page or email course to get the details :). Thanks again for reaching out and hope to talk to you soon.
PepperJam, like Avant Link, take a very serious approach to affiliate networking and are not interested in sites who simply wish to make a few extra bucks on the side each year. Whilst their site is soaked in confusing techobabble (“cutting-edge affiliate techology”, “premier omni-channel consumer engagement”) the company’s aims are clear. They aim to make money, they aim to make their affiliates money and they aim to generate their merchants sales, and they work out the best ways of doing exactly that.
